Colors and fashion. These two words make some of us cringe. Don’t let it.

Here are a few tips on how to keep those fun colors in your wardrobe as well as keeping them fashion friendly.

Mixing different tones of colors work. Meaning, if you have a primary color like red, yellow, or blue you can mix any other colors that falls in between them.

How to Color Block

If you are new to color blocking and you just are not sure how to grasp the fashion trend then try these tips.

To get the color block trend right, you have to know which colors complement each other best.

As fun as it sounds, you can’t just pile on every color you find in your wardrobe, you will end up looking like the character from that famous cartoon in the 80’s Rainbow Brite!

I had to post a pic. I loved this cartoon.

For those of you that are scared to really go too far with the color blocking, then It’s good to anchor your outfit with a neutral color like black, white, grey or beige.

To find out which colors are complementary, the use of this color wheel will help.

This is a great way to incorporate your basic neutral with some fun color blocking.

Let’s say you have a gorgeous pair of RED pants that you would love to wear, but you are tired of wearing your typical white or black blouse.

Look at your red, yellow and blue (primary) colors on your color wheel.

Now that you found them, you can see that I chose purple since it falls between two primary colors yellow and blue.

Remember, you can choose any color to mix with that gorgeous shade of red all the way from yellow to blue.

Don’t be afraid to venture out in the fun new trends. Another important factor when it comes to your wardrobe and styling is not to be too “matchy matchy”.

Color blocking, adding different styles, and prints to your wardrobe will certainly help in this.

Speaking of prints, Do not mix two bold prints!

You can mix polka dots and stripes as long as the color of the stripes and polka dots blend.

You also need to make sure that the patterns are simple and in small uniform.

You might have styles or colors in your closet that you can try out. If you need help with any of this just send me a message.
