Congratulations!

It’s your time to shine and soon it will be your big day.

If you are like most women you have dreamed of this day from the time you met your special someone, up to the proposal.

If you are like me, you probably have had those in the reverse order, your wedding planned out and your dress dreamed up way before prince charming comes in to the picture.

Maybe you are just totally caught off guard and your plans to get married were more long term, you are the perfect business women, great career, very independent and then out of nowhere you are planning your big day.

A set of four pictures from my wedding day

Maybe you want a big wedding, maybe you want a small wedding. No matter when it is, where it is, how old you are, how young you are, just remember the day and the dream is meant for you and your future husband.

Enjoy the time you have to look for that one item that will make you shine, other than your husband on your side, your wedding dress.

I am going to give you a few simple tips on how to have fun finding your perfect dress.

Let’s make that dream wedding a reality without the stress.

Breath and Pray

There is a lot of pressure during the wedding planning process and it seems that the gown is the epicenter of it all.

So before you start operation Find a Perfect Wedding Dress, take a deep breath along with saying a little prayer and try to go into the process as calm as a cucumber.

Plan Your Wedding

Pick the date or find a season you want to get married in. If you do this in advance you might possibly get a head start on purchasing your dress and could very well find some good deals.

Research and Get Organized

Find your favorite wedding magazines, websites or blogs, keep a folder or binder with pictures of dresses you like. This will help you narrow down your selection and keep things running smoothly when trying on dresses in the stores.

Know Your Budget

The fabulous thing about wedding dresses is that there are gorgeous gowns at every price range. So whatever you have been dreaming about since you were pretending to get married at the cute age of 6, your options are endless.

Just remember to let your price range be known and stick to it. That should be done during your research as well.

Accessorize

After you have chosen your perfect gown now you can have fun accessorizing. You don’t have to put a lot of money into your accessories just be creative and have fun with them.

Accessories can make a bridal gown even more fabulous if it’s done tastefully.

Enlist a Trusted Friend

Bring one to two of your most trusted people with you. Having the support of one to two people makes the experience fun while still allowing for your opinion to matter the most.

Example – Mom, sisters, friends, wedding planner, etc.

Document Everything

Take pictures, walk around in your dress.

I would even bring a pair of shoes that may be closer to what you are planning on wearing with your gown.

This will allow you to narrow down your choices. Remember, this will be a dress that you will wear once but it’s your day, so be as picky as you want.

Don’t Settle

If you see a dress that you love and it’s way above your price, go back to researching.

You might find the dress cheaper on line or you may find a discount bridal store. You may even be able to bargain with the store owner or designer to get the dress of your dreams at the cost you want.

You can also see if you can find a seamstress to custom design your perfect gown or reconstruct a dress that you know might have potential to be your dream gown for half the cost.

Just remember to do the first step – breath and pray! Don’t have any regrets and realize that everything will fall exactly into place when the dress is taken care of.
