I was recently at a small get together and I had someone approach me and say “I love your outfit Laura, it’s so cute and different but, I could never wear it”.
I get this a lot from my clients, friends, random strangers and family members. I always feel great when someone can approach me when it comes to my fashion for two reasons: I love my style, I step out of the fashion box a lot, and to be honest with you, I don’t have just one style or trend I enjoy wearing.
That’s the beauty about fashion. It’s not like getting your hair done and going from really long hair to really short hair in an instant, or going from light to dark.
You are not paying a lot of money to change up your style like you do with your hair. You can be creative and explore different routes when it comes to your style.
Who says you have to just stick to one style?
I felt so flattered that this sweet person came to me and told me this. What a beautiful lady she is inside and out.
I also had a few teenage girls moms come up to me in that same night and say “My daughter wants to know where you got the pieces of your outfit” I stop and thought well, I am not sure how I should feel if teenage girls like my outfits, but I figured if the moms were coming up to me then it wasn’t too bad, right?
After about two seconds of the conversation I found out – the daughters love it so much that they wanted their moms to wear it. LOL!
I felt flattered that I could make the moms and the teenagers happy. So here are some simple tips in finding the perfect style for your wardrobe.
When it comes to figuring out what your may or may not want hanging in your wardrobe I would research what trends or fashion you are loving.
You can also find magazines or websites that will give you tips and ideas on how you can incorporate trends or style that will work with you, your body type and personality or call a stylist, Centsibly Southern Chic.
You will get that one on one experience which should help you digest things a lot easier.
2. Baby Steps
OK, so you don’t have to completely step out into all the trends. Take small baby steps.
For example, if the western look is in then find cowboy boots or a purse with small western fringe and keep the rest of your style simple.
Honestly, that’s how you can enjoy your style simply by adding small pieces of the current trends to your wardrobe.
This is so important ladies. After you do your research you need to step out knowing that you can embrace whatever style you love.
Go out to dinner with a group of honest girl friends or maybe you have a girl friend or family member that is fashion forward and loves you and has encouraged you to change up your style a little.
Get them to come over to give you the confidence and advice you need. Be careful of those who are not encouraging. You want honesty, but you don’t want someone who is mean and discouraging.
This is about trying something new, and finding a new, easy and affordable way to change up your everyday style. This does not call for any negativity.
In the grand scheme of things when you change up your style it’s not going to be enough to for anyone to be ugly about it. I know we all have wonderful, sweet loving family members and friends who love us so we don’t need to worry about this at all.
