Alright ladies now that we are heading into a new year let’s start looking forward to a new you.

As you think about the various areas of your life that need improvement this year, I encourage you to think about your wardrobe and consider the role that clothing and your personal style plays in your daily routine.

Step into your closet, and ask yourself a few important questions:

new year new you 5

—-

1-Can I wear new styles or trends?
Do you find yourself looking through the latest style or fashion magazines, pinning your favorite styles on Pinterest or reading the curtain fashion blogs and then telling yourself maybe I can pull that look off?

This is a perfect sign that you can wear some of those fashion forward trends. It’s all about finding what you are comfortable in.

—-

2-Are you stuck in a rut of endless worries of what not to wear?
You look in your closet and find items that seem outdated. Purge a little, get rid of clothes that are showing wear or that don’t fit.

Don’t let the traditional resolution of losing or gaining weight control your closet.

If you do lose or gain a few pounds than you need to treat yourself to something new to flatter your new body so quit holding on to those old items.

—-

3-Does my wardrobe define who I am?
Am I making the right impression with my wardrobe when it comes to family, work, friends, etc.

—-

4-Are you shopping at the same stores or have multiples of the same items clothing in your closet?
Are you stuck in a routine of buying the same styles and shopping at the same stores? Is it because you just don’t like change and you claim that the certain stores clothing is the only styles that work best for you?

Get out and make shopping an adventure. Make a point to shop in stores you don’t usually shop in.

This will force you to open up to new styles and you might find that you like them.

—-

5-Having problems de-cluttering?
Are you hanging on to items because of a sentimental value? Like the article of clothing that you wore on your first date? Do you hold hopes of possibly fitting in that top, pants, dress, skirt or blouse that you wore 10 years ago?

Sentimental value is understandable, but hoping to be the size you were when 10 years ago is quite likely a stretch. Go ahead, get rid of it.

—-

6-Have you wasted your money on items of clothing that still have tags on them?
This often is impulse shopping. Not really trying items on, buying multiple of items and forgetting you bought three of them in the same color and or style, buying something and not getting home to test drive what you bought.

Get opinions, take pics of how you look in it so in return you won’t just leave it in your closet (tags and all) forgetting the reason why you bought it in the first place.

As women, we all tend to do this. The only way to combat this problem is to make a conscious effort to try on newly purchased clothing within 24 hours of purchase.

Much longer than that and I can easily be out of sight out of mind and joining the ever growing pile of unworn items.

—-

7-Have you lost touch with your sense of style?
Hectic lives can cause this thus causing us to forget that we are important too. When you start to think that wearing workout clothes is so much easier and stylish than this might be a problem.

Now, I love a cute pair of workout clothes, but if you have a free day of fun with the family or friends, let’s re-think comfort vs style.

Also, if you are constantly pinning cute pics of fun trends or fashionable looks on Pinterest and not trying to incorporate those looks into your wardrobe then this might be a sign of needing to get back to your style.

—-

8- Is life just busy?
No time to shop! Who’s has time for themselves., right? Kids, work, family, events, or just plain tuckered out, I think we all fit into this category from time to time.

—-

9- Is your mindset, I’m older and my body has changed so nothing looks good on me except for what I am used to?
I can’t wear trends. This is not true! Your shape, your age, your style and every God given feature on your body is something to embrace along with a fun new style.

We all can wear items of clothing in our own way. It’s about embracing it and finding what works best for you.

—-

If you have answered yes to at least one of the above then stop! Ladies, it’s time to embrace the new year with a new you.

After the roller coaster year we’ve had, I think we all need a fresh start and renewed self confidence.

Every woman deserves to have a wardrobe that reflects her best self. We love taking care of everyone around us especially during the holidays, but the hustle and bustle can makes us forget that we are important too.

The months of January, February and March are when life slows down a bit and you can take care of yourself.

An added bonus to all of this is that you won’t break the bank on your new look. You can find some great inventory and end of season sales this time of year.

Try one of those styles you have been eyeing in the magazines or pinning on Pinterest. Don’t be scared, the worst thing that can happen is you decide this particular style isn’t the best for me but, hey, this one is fabulous!

Honestly ladies, the truth is everyone needs a little style help from time to time and the start of a new year is the perfect time to redefine your style goals. Take the time to enjoy yourself and the new you.

You deserve it!
