I love to find ways to be creative and I really enjoy using those creativity to help me save money. I know Jeffery loves it too.
Jeffery and I were invited to a Kentucky Derby Party recently. I knew about this event three weeks in advance, but as time goes by and life moves on, I completely got tied up with things and let it slip my mind.
Not only does your outfit need to be in check for the Kentucky Derby, but more importantly, your hat or head piece must be a show stopper.
The day before the event, I was rushing around the house trying to be creative and luckily I had recently visited our Dillards Outlet and purchased a few items for my southern summer wardrobe.
One of those items was a sun hat for $6.99.
Let the creativity begin!
- Tulle from wrapping gifts. Check.
- Fake flowers from a photo shoot. Check.
- Headband. Check
- Wire for ribbons. Check.
- Scissors. Check
Off to design my show-stopping hat. Check out my video below for ideas on how to use real flowers or others items around your house to pull together that extravagant hat for any special occasion.
I wish I could say I was able to show off my masterpiece to all the party goers, but the Handey crew ended up with the stomach bug that day. Bummer, maybe next year.
