For most of us, our favorite time of the year is just around the corner and that means a lot of family fun, parties, church activities, kids activities, adult activities, football and soccer.
This also means we are working our way closer to Christmas. Forgotten are the days of being a young kid and feeling like the holidays are never going to get here.
As much as we love spending time with our family and friends it often feels like we never have time for ourselves. We all love to look and feel our best when it comes to attending all these events, but in all reality, we just need to save money for what’s really important.
I have stopped stressing about my holidays styles, and now focus on what the holidays mean.
Here is a list of how we can budget our holiday style. This will also help you stay stress and worry free so maybe we should try using this all year long.
God
Yep, that’s what I said. God is so good, and the last thing he wants us to do is stay stressed out over things in our lives.
So breath, and realize he’s got this!
This was a fun day of shopping in the picture posted below. I was with a friend and not stressing over what I needed. Just enjoying time with her.
Surprisingly when I went to just look I found more items on sale and could think a little more clearly.
Keep your closet full of classics.
This helps when you want to add trendier pieces to your wardrobe.
Clean out your closet.
If you haven’t worn it in a year, its time to let it go.
In return, you can consign and possibly make enough money to invest in a few items to add to your wardrobe or better yet buy a few gifts for friends and family for the holidays.
Replace and repair what you can.
For example, if you have items in your wardrobe that you haven’t worn in a while because you have lost or gained weight, the shoe may look a little worn, or maybe your dress/skirt has a hole in it, take these items to get fixed.
This will save you money and time shopping. You might be surprised when you see the end results of these alterations.
They can look new and improved.
Budget your holiday shopping.
This is very important ladies. Give yourself a set amount for gifts and a set amount for your style.
This can help you save money and possibly have money left over to give to your favorite charity.
Don’t be so quick to purchase.
If it’s something that you’re not quite sure about, then wait until it goes on clearance.
Doing this it helps improve your self-control and you may realize that you don’t need that particular item in your closet.
This is also applicable to buying for a friend or family member. I always tell my clients to marinate on it if they are not quite sure don’t just purchase because you THINK it might work.
Knowing the difference between sale and clearance items can help you make this decision a lot easier.
Clearance sales are when an item is permanently marked down, and a sale is when something is temporarily marked down.
If you see a particular blouse, shoes, pants, dress etc on sale and you know you wouldn’t normally buy it at full price and it’s at least 30 percent off, then that might be a bargain.
Now that you have saved money and you can understand how to work through the stress of the holidays.
Make sure you take the time to contribute and give back to others. This applies not only during the holidays, but all year long. Enjoy yourself, your family and friends and first and foremost know that God’s got this!
How much did you save in this holiday shopping season ? :)
I did quite well John. I am still saving by allowing myself to be very creative with my current wardrobe. All of our holiday bills tend to come in January and February. So, sitting tight and not shopping and using all my creative styling juices is what I do best this time of the year.
