We are fast approaching the hot and humid days of summer! Like most of us, a family vacation or just a vacation is something we look forward to.
But not the hot humid heat!
When packing for that vacation, don’t forget your southern style!
Make it easy, light and versatile. Besides, we southern ladies know how to make our clothes adaptable with our crazy weather in the south.
Pull out those summer scarves, tanks, t-shirts, shorts, skirts, cotton dresses or your favorite romper. Add your favorite accessories and you are ready for a nice vacay away.
I could wear my everyday romper over my swimsuits. Same goes for those simple summer cotton dresses.
Elizabeth and Sam have a great summer style too. A simple dress and white pants are a great item to pack. Just adding the perfect accessories can really change your attire.
I love my hat! This is one of my fun and affordable accessories for the summer.
I bought it for 19.99 at Burlington Coat Factory. Always keep your face and skin protected. And make it stylish!
I also love wearing my gold strappy heels. They give me a little height!
But, my favorite is a printed dress that I bought 3 years ago at Ross. I now wear it as a cover up.
Taking your summer dresses that you have worn or kept for a while can be a great way to use them as a fun summer style. So don’t get rid of all your outdated cotton dresses.
When you pack your swim wear think multipurpose. I typically wear my swimsuit all day long and that’s where your tank and scarf come in handy, along with your favorite summer dress.
I love to wear a solid tank over my swimsuit and then take a scarf and tie it on the side.
You can always stick a fun summer heel and a bracelet in your beach bag just to dress things up a little for a late dinner at that favorite beach restaurant.
It’s classy and a fun style that will save you money and time.
If you are not comfortable wearing your swim wear then bring some extra undergarments, baby wipes to freshen up and your favorite summer dress and you can still wear that tank and scarf.
Don’t forget to pack your favorite lip gloss. You can use this to brighten up your checks too.
And speaking of packing items. Ladies, don’t forget the SPF and your favorite sun hat! We might look great in our clothes on these hot summer days but we certainly need to keep our skin looking healthy.
This is about as simple as you get (I am on the bottom left of the picture). I took a printed scarf that I never wore and tied it around my waist. I then paired it with one of the many black tanks hanging in my closet.
Now you have the perfect go to outfit for that hot summer day.
Swimsuit and all…
Whether you are packing for the beach or a fun road trip; pack light and make sure you find items you can mix and match with a simple t-shirt, shorts, dress or even your favorite romper.
This is where accessories come in to play. You can totally change a look up with simple accessories.
Bold and bright staple pieces go with even your solid, simple dresses. I would even use your scarf that you wore on the beach and incorporate it in with your outfit. Wear it at night when it has cooled off a bit.
Play up that jewelry, it is light and easy to pack and doesn’t take up a lot of room at all.
I think packing one outfit with a print is fine, just make sure everything else you pack are solids. That way you can change it up a little more with all the accessories I mentioned above.
It’s all about layering and keeping it simple! I guarantee you will find packing for trips (and the dreaded unpacking when you get back), will be much less stressful.
So happy summer styling and vacationing to you all!
