It’s getting closer and closer to spring and summer. They are just around the corner and that means vacations and pools, oceans, lakes, well you get it, bodies of water.

That also means…I’m going to say it ladies… Swimsuits!

Don’t stress, I know we all dread this, including yours truly. Here are a few tips that I have tried and shared with my clients in regards to understanding their bodies and how to make their swimwear part of their summer style.

This goes for teenagers, moms, and women of all ages and shapes.

First-What’s Your shape?

Is your shape closer to a pear shape, apple or straight up and down?

Whatever it may be, the first step in purchasing any type of swimwear is finding out your shape.

Research

Take time trying on swimwear. Get a professional or family/friend to give you some honest feedback.

Take a look at some online stores, blogs, magazines or websites that might have tips on how to find the perfect swimsuit for you.

Understand Your Body

We all know we are made differently, we are not all going to be the same when it comes to swimsuit styles.

Don’t get discouraged if you have a friend that can wear the perfect two piece and you feel as if you can not.

She might not be able to pull off a certain one piece or tankini like you can. That’s why we need to research swimwear.

Modesty

This is important in the swimwear world. We don’t have to bare it all to feel or look beautiful.

It’s about being confident and learning how to style your swimwear. You can be creative with your bathing suit and be very tasteful while doing this.

Be Creative

Have fun with your swimsuit. Mix and match your colors or prints to bring in a little flair.

Find a few cover-ups, maxi dresses, summer dresses, skirt, tanks or t-shirts to throw on.

Also, have fun with simple accessories like:

  • summer scarves
  • simple jewelry pieces
  • hats
  • summer bags to put all your goodies in
  • summer shoes

Accessories can help take a simple swimsuit to simply fabulous!

Having these items can allow you the versatility of enjoying your swimwear not just on the beach or by the pool, but for lunch dates or quick shopping trips without revealing a lot.

Keep it Within a Budget

Find a store that will allow you to mix and match your swimwear or will allow you to purchase your items separately. You might find a bottom that fits you at Target better than at Kohl’s and then Kohl’s swim tops may fit you better than a Target top.

Doing this can be fun and it can help you save money on your swimwear.

Look for discount swimwear or outlet stores you can purchase items to mix with your current swimwear.

If you see a swimsuit you like but it’s just too much, try it on at the store first then check online you may be able to purchase with a coupon or there may be specials on line.

Confidence

I alway say to be confident in your style and this goes for your swimwear as well.

You can find ways to enjoy your swimwear simple by doing the above list.

Find Your Swimwear Style

If you want to wear a cover-up over your swimsuit all day then do it. If you want to wear your two piece with a little coverage on the bottom then it is OK.

Just be confident in yourself and your body.

Don’t beat yourself up about trying to find the perfect swimsuit for your body.

Being confident and comfortable with your swimwear can allow you to enjoy your summer and the time you are spending with your family and friends.
